LongClarity is a household retirement-planning and educational modeling application. This Privacy Policy explains how LongClarity handles information when you use the app.
LongClarity is designed so that the personal and financial information used to build your retirement plan is primarily processed and stored locally on your device. LongClarity does not operate a backend server that receives or stores your retirement plan.
1. Information Used by LongClarity
To build and maintain your retirement model, LongClarity may use information you enter into the app, including:
- names of household members;
- dates of birth and ages;
- retirement timing;
- household income;
- estimated monthly spending;
- Retirement Account balances and Assets Outside of Retirement Accounts;
- Workplace Retirement Contributions and Additional Savings & Investing;
- Social Security assumptions;
- pension assumptions;
- healthcare assumptions;
- Modeled Lifestyle Spending, Healthcare, and Planned Spending Changes;
- Starting Model, Current Plan, Proposed Plan, and other modeling assumptions;
- changes you choose to adopt as your Current Plan; and
- information you update through LongClarity Coach Check-Ins.
This information may include personal and financial information. It is used to perform retirement modeling and to keep your plan available between app sessions.
2. Where Your Retirement-Plan Information Is Stored
LongClarity stores substantive retirement-plan information locally on your device using protected application storage.
LongClarity does not operate a cloud-storage or synchronization service that receives or stores your retirement-plan information on LongClarity servers.
Your locally stored application data may also be included in device backups performed through Apple's iOS or iCloud backup services. Apple's device-backup services are controlled by Apple and are separate from LongClarity's own storage and backup features.
3. How LongClarity Uses Your Information to Provide the App
Information you enter into your retirement plan is used to provide LongClarity's features, including to:
- build and update your retirement model;
- calculate modeled retirement outcomes;
- compare your Current Plan with a Proposed Plan;
- allow you to explore changes without automatically changing your Current Plan;
- provide educational modeling through LongClarity Coach;
- perform Coach Check-Ins;
- calculate Total Modeled Costs, Retirement Assets, Asset Withdrawals, Funding Gaps, and Modeled Funding Through;
- model Planned Spending Changes and the Retirement Bridge;
- generate retirement charts and year-by-year information; and
- create reports and other exports you request.
These retirement-model calculations are performed locally on your device. LongClarity does not send the underlying retirement-plan information to a LongClarity server for these calculations.
4. No Third-Party Product Analytics
LongClarity does not use a third-party product analytics service and does not transmit in-app feature-usage events to Long Clarity LLC.
Apple may provide Long Clarity LLC with aggregated App Store, purchase, subscription, stability, and usage information through Apple services. Apple controls that collection under Apple's terms and privacy choices. LongClarity does not receive your retirement-plan inputs or modeled results through those reports.
5. Purchases and Subscriptions
LongClarity uses Apple's App Store and StoreKit for Premium purchases and subscription management.
What Apple handles
Purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. Apple handles the transaction through your Apple account and Apple's payment systems.
What LongClarity receives
LongClarity receives the StoreKit information needed to determine whether Premium access is available, including relevant purchase, renewal, expiration, and restore status.
What LongClarity does not receive
LongClarity does not operate its own payment processor and does not receive your full payment-card information through the app.
Apple's handling of information associated with your Apple account, App Store purchases, and subscriptions is governed by Apple's own privacy practices and terms.
6. LongClarity Backup Files
LongClarity allows you to create a .longclaritybackup file so that relevant LongClarity plan and application information can later be restored.
What a LongClarity backup contains
When you choose to create a LongClarity backup, the backup may contain substantial personal and financial information from your retirement plan so that relevant plan and app information can later be restored.
How the backup is protected
LongClarity backup files are not password-encrypted by LongClarity.
You should treat a .longclaritybackup file as sensitive and store or share it accordingly.
What happens when you export it
You choose where the backup is saved or shared.
Once a backup is exported outside LongClarity, that copy is under your control and may also be handled by the application, storage provider, device, or person you selected.
LongClarity cannot recall or delete copies you have exported elsewhere.
7. Retirement Reports, PDFs, and Sharing
What the report may contain
Reports and PDFs you generate can contain substantial personal and financial information from your retirement plan.
Where the report is created
LongClarity generates these documents on your device. LongClarity does not upload the contents of the report or PDF to a LongClarity server.
What happens when you share or save it
If you choose to save or share a report, LongClarity uses Apple's sharing functionality. You choose the destination.
The application, storage service, device, or person you select may then receive and store the document.
After it leaves LongClarity
Once you export a report or PDF, LongClarity cannot control, recall, or delete copies stored or shared outside the app.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
How long your plan stays on your device
Your retirement-plan information is stored locally so that your Current Plan and related information remain available when you return to LongClarity.
LongClarity does not automatically delete your active retirement plan after a set period.
Removing LongClarity data from your device
LongClarity does not operate a retirement-plan backend or consumer account system through which your locally stored plan can be remotely deleted.
Deleting LongClarity from your device is the primary way to remove the app's live local application data from that installation, subject to Apple's separate device and iCloud backup behavior.
What deleting the app does not remove
Deleting LongClarity does not necessarily remove information contained in previous Apple device or iCloud backups, backup files or PDFs you previously exported, or copies you shared or saved elsewhere.
Deleting LongClarity also does not cancel an Apple App Store subscription or delete Apple's transaction or account records.
9. Apple Device and iCloud Backups
LongClarity does not operate a cloud-storage or synchronization service for your retirement-plan information. Your plan is stored locally on your device.
Apple backups are separate
Information stored by LongClarity on your device may also be included in device backups performed through Apple's iOS or iCloud backup services.
Those backup services are provided and controlled by Apple, not LongClarity.
LongClarity backups are different
Apple's device and iCloud backup system is separate from the .longclaritybackup feature in LongClarity.
A .longclaritybackup file is created only when you choose to use LongClarity's backup feature.
Apple's handling of iCloud, device backups, and related information is governed by Apple's own privacy practices and terms.
10. Advertising and Tracking
LongClarity does not display third-party advertising and does not use your LongClarity activity to serve you targeted advertising.
LongClarity does not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) or track your activity across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes.
LongClarity does not use a third-party product analytics service and does not transmit in-app feature-usage events for advertising or behavioral tracking.
LongClarity does not sell personal information. LongClarity does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not use sensitive retirement-plan information for advertising.
11. Children and Younger Users
LongClarity is a retirement-planning and educational modeling application intended for adults and households interested in retirement planning. It is not directed to children under 13.
LongClarity does not require consumers to create an account and does not operate an age-verification system.
An adult may enter information about children or other dependents as part of household Healthcare modeling. That does not create an account or profile for the dependent, and the information remains part of the locally stored household plan unless the adult deliberately exports it.
12. Security
Protecting information on your device
LongClarity stores substantive retirement-plan information using protected local application storage provided through iOS.
LongClarity does not operate a server that receives or stores your retirement plan.
Protecting information you export
Backup files, retirement reports, and other documents you choose to export can contain substantial personal and financial information.
The security of an exported copy also depends on where you choose to save or share it.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We encourage you to protect access to your device and use appropriate care when storing or sharing exported LongClarity information.
13. Third-Party Services
LongClarity relies on a limited number of third-party services.
Apple — App Store, StoreKit, and Device Services
Apple provides services used for LongClarity purchases and subscriptions and may provide device services such as iOS or iCloud backup.
These Apple services are separate from LongClarity's local retirement-plan storage.
Services or people you choose when exporting information
When you deliberately save or share a backup, report, PDF, or other document, the destination you select may receive that information.
That destination may process or store the information under its own privacy practices.
LongClarity does not operate a backend that receives or stores your substantive retirement-plan information.
14. Your Choices
LongClarity is designed to leave important decisions about your information and retirement plan with you.
Information you enter
You choose the information and assumptions you enter into your retirement model.
Changes to your Current Plan
Exploring a scenario does not automatically change your Current Plan.
Your Current Plan changes only when you deliberately review and adopt a Proposed Plan.
Backups and exports
You choose whether to create a LongClarity backup or save or share a retirement report, PDF, or other export.
You also choose where that information is sent or stored.
Removing local information
If you no longer want your active LongClarity retirement-plan information stored on a particular device, you may delete LongClarity from that device, subject to the limitations concerning Apple backups and exported information described elsewhere in this Policy.
15. U.S. Privacy Requests
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions and thresholds, you may have rights concerning personal information processed by Long Clarity LLC, such as rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about processing, and to appeal certain request decisions.
Most substantive retirement-plan information is stored only on your device and is directly available for you to review or change in LongClarity. Long Clarity LLC cannot remotely access, correct, or delete information that it does not possess. Questions about information Long Clarity LLC may possess through support communications or other user-directed contact may be sent to support@longclarity.com.
Long Clarity LLC will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right provided by applicable law. We may take reasonable steps to verify a request and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits, subject to verification of the agent's authority and the request.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when LongClarity's features, data practices, or legal requirements change.
When we make changes, we will update the Last Updated date shown at the top of this Policy.
If a change materially affects how LongClarity handles your information, we may also provide additional notice within the app or through another appropriate method.
